SPACES & FACILITIES

  • Leith Theatre offers a striking, cinema-ready period exterior with elegant stonework and a strong architectural presence. The building’s inter-war classical composition is characterised by a grand curved frontage that interplays with the Leith Library opposite, a formal main façade and a columned loggia.

The exterior grounds include a well-proportioned cobbled area, previously used for parking, food trucks or additional toilet hire, with 32A single-phase power available. Exterior doors at the front of the building provide a direct, no step access get-in point to the Main Auditorium, Crush Foyer, and Thomas Morton Hall from the private roadway.

The grounds also feature a well-maintained garden offering a beautiful and camera-friendly approach to the building.

  • The Main Event. The space that puts the Legendary into Leith Theatre. A flat-floored hall with a distinctive U-shaped balcony and proscenium-arched stage, it has played host to AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and The Wombles. It has a barrel-vaulted ceiling housing glazed roof lights, which uniquely allows for daylight shooting or blackout options. This space is the epicentre of Leith’s cultural heart. Find out more here.

  • Our smaller, spacious hall. Find out more here.

  • Backstage offering green rooms, dressing rooms and production rooms. Find out more here.

  • The Crush Foyer is the original main entrance to the building. Find out more here.

  • Leith Theatre’s Thomas Morton Hall has an adjacent, well-proportioned kitchen annex. Fitted with stainless steel commercial surfaces and a serving pass, the kitchen provides good flexibility for plating and serving food to crew and attendees.

  • Located above the Crush Foyer, the Mezzanine is an elegant, light-filled space ideal for quiet breakout areas and filming. It features warm ambient lighting, decorative ceiling details, parquet flooring and marble pillars that mirror the character of the space below.

An intricate, sweeping staircase with ornate railings connects the Mezzanine to the Crush Foyer and direct door access leads onto the Balcony and Thomas Morton Hall adding flexibility for entrances and exits.

  • A beautiful and open horseshoe corridor with arches that wraps around the Main Auditorium. This space links to the Main Auditorium, Balcony, Backstage, Crush Foyer and exterior. The corridor also includes two storage cupboards that can be used by hirers.
